Will ChatGPT and Google recommend your clinic?
Short answer
Nobody can promise that ChatGPT or Google will recommend your clinic.
Google says its AI answers use the same basics as normal search. No special tricks.
ChatGPT search finds sites with its own crawler. OpenAI says to let it in.
What you can do: make your clinic easy to read, correct, and the same everywhere.

What do Google and AI assistants look at?
They read your website, like a very fast visitor.
Google says its AI answers use the same basics as normal Google search.
There is no special trick and no extra requirement.
ChatGPT search uses its own crawler, called OAI-SearchBot, to find websites.
Other AI assistants have their own rules. This guide covers Google and ChatGPT, because both explain theirs in public.
What are the 5 checks?
- Phone. Your site reads well on a phone.
- Booking button. It goes straight to your real booking page.
- Opening hours. They match your Google Business Profile.
- Padlock and speed. Your site opens securely (https) and loads quickly.
- Easy to find. Search engines can reach your site and read your clinic's details as text.
None of these is new or clever.
They help people first. That is also what Google asks for.
Why should my details be written as text?
Google says important content should be available as text.
A price list or opening hours inside a photo is hard for a machine to read.
Write these as plain text on your page:
- Your clinic name, address and phone number.
- What you treat, in plain words.
- Your opening hours.
- Who people will see.
- How to book.
Use the same name, address and phone as on your Google profile.
Is my site open to Google and ChatGPT?
A small file called robots.txt tells crawlers what they may read.
Google says to make sure crawling is allowed there, and by your hosting.
OpenAI says sites that block OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers.
Ask your web person one question: "Do we allow Googlebot and OAI-SearchBot?"
Blocking GPTBot is a separate choice. OpenAI says GPTBot is for training its models, not for search.
Do I need structured data?
Structured data is a short, hidden description of your clinic in a format machines read.
Google says no special structured data is needed to appear in its AI features.
If you use it, Google says it must match the visible text on your page.
So fix the visible text first.
What about my Google Business Profile?
Google lists an up-to-date Business Profile among its basics for AI features.
Check your hours, phone, booking link and photos once a month.
Our Google Maps guide walks you through it.
What should I not pay for?
- Anyone who promises that ChatGPT or Google will recommend you. Nobody controls that.
- Special "AI files" sold as a must. Google says you don't need them for its AI features.

No.
Google says indexing and showing a page is not guaranteed, even when it meets every requirement.
Be careful with anyone who promises it.
Do I need an llms.txt file or special AI markup?
Not for Google.
Google says you don't need new AI text files or special markup to appear in its AI features.
How long does it take?
It varies.
Google says crawling can take from several days to several months.
Is this the same as getting found on Google Maps?
It overlaps.
Your Google Business Profile matters for both. See our Google Maps guide.
